- A reed module is a magnetic sensor that is normally open and get closed when exposed to a magnetic field.
- In our example, if the sensor is closed, the LED on pin 13 is turned off. For this you need to keep a magnet near the sensor.
- The module includes a 10K Ohm resistor, so no additional parts needed.
- When the device is exposed to a magnetic field, the two ferrous materials inside the switch pull together and the switch closes. When the magnetic field is removed, the reeds separate and the switch opens. This makes for a great non-contact switch. This switch can carry up to 1.2A.
