PIR Motion Detector Specifications
- Detection Method: Most pet-immune sensors use dual-element PIR (Passive Infrared) sensors, with some advanced models using TriTech systems that combine PIR with microwave (MW) detection for increased accuracy and false alarm prevention.
- Pet Immunity: The ability to ignore pets varies, with most models having a limit between 10 kg (~22 lbs) and 38 kg (~84 lbs). The effectiveness often depends on correct installation height and avoiding furniture climbing within the detection area.
- Detection Range & Angle: Typical indoor detection ranges are up to 12 meters (approx. 39 feet) with a wide-angle lens providing about a 90° to 110° viewing angle.
- Power Source: Models can be either wired (typically 9-16V DC) or wireless (using batteries like CR123A or AAA, with a lifespan of 1-6 years).
- Connectivity: Wireless versions use various frequencies, such as 433MHz, 868MHz, or 2.4GHz Wi-Fi/Zigbee.
- Advanced Features: Many include digital temperature compensation, adjustable sensitivity, anti-tamper protection, and resistance to white light and electromagnetic interference (EMI/RFI).
Door & Window Sensor Specifications
- Detection Method: These primarily use a simple contact sensor system, consisting of a main sensor unit and a magnet. An alarm is triggered when the magnet is moved away from the main unit (i.e., the door or window is opened).
- Pet Immunity: As they are contact-based, they are inherently "pet-immune" as they only monitor the opening/closing of the entry point itself, not general room movement.
- Power Source: Almost exclusively battery-powered (commonly CR2032 or AAA batteries), offering long life spans, often exceeding 2 years.
- Connectivity: They connect wirelessly to a smart home hub or directly to Wi-Fi (usually 2.4GHz) and support integration with platforms like Tuya Smart, Amazon Alexa, or Google Assistant.
- Installation: Installation is typically DIY using adhesive tape or screws, with a maximum separation distance between the sensor and magnet of around 12mm (½ inch) when the door/window is closed.
